Obituary for a mother
Traditional, about 180 words. Fictional person.
Margaret Ann "Peggy" Doyle, 79, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully on March 4, surrounded by her children. Peggy taught second grade for 34 years, and former students still stopped her at the grocery store to say hello. She married her high school sweetheart, Frank, in 1966, and together they raised four children in a house that always had room for one more at the table. She loved Saturday garage sales, crossword puzzles in pen, and the Ohio State Buckeyes, in that order. Her pot roast was legendary and her recipe stayed a secret. Peggy was preceded in death by Frank in 2019. She is survived by her children Michael, Karen, Sean and Theresa, eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 9, at 10 a.m. at St. Agatha Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the public library's children's reading program.

Raymond Lee Carter, 72, of Memphis, Tennessee, died on June 12 after a long illness, with his family by his side. Ray drove a city bus for 28 years and knew half of Memphis by name. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Loretta, his daughters Angela and Denise, his son Marcus, and seven grandchildren who called him Pop. A homegoing celebration will be held on Saturday, June 17, at 11 a.m. at Greater New Hope Baptist Church, with a viewing one hour before.
Obituary for a grandmother
Written by a grandchild. Fictional person.
Our grandmother, Helen Ruth Novak, left us on January 22 at the age of 94. Grandma Helen was born on a farm in Nebraska and never lost the habit of being up before the sun. She raised three children, buried a husband she adored, and spent her last thirty years spoiling eight grandchildren with kolaches and card games she always let us think we won. She taught us that a handwritten letter matters, that you finish what you start, and that there is always time for coffee. Helen is survived by her children, her grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services will be held on Friday, January 27, at 2 p.m. at the Lutheran church in her hometown.
Obituary for a veteran

He never missed a Veterans Day parade and never talked much about why. Eddie is survived by Rosa, his sons Daniel and Joe, his daughter Lupe, and six grandchildren. Funeral services with military honors will be held on Thursday, September 5, at 9 a.m., with burial to follow at the national cemetery.

Tyler James Brooks, 19, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, left us far too soon on April 2. He is survived by his parents, Brian and Melissa, his sisters Kayla and Paige, his grandparents, and more friends than the chapel will hold. A celebration of Tyler's life will be held on Saturday, April 8, at 1 p.m. Wear his favorite color, green.
